Today I received a flyer carrying a return address of "Citizen Advocating Responsible Expansion" (I've omitted the person's name) franked with a White Plains postage permit. Within it was an insert noting "7.81% Increase Teacher's Salary?! Why??" This is the first instance I've heard of Teacher's salaries being brought up. Now, I'm not a Teacher or Parent, nor am I as smart or successful as many people in our town, but I am excellent at research, so I researched. My source is Newsday data for 2008. #1 Remsenburg-Speonk (RS) students earned top 4th grade English & Math scores #2 RS had the lowest Teacher turnover on Long Island #3 Remsenburg-Speonk (RS) ranked 109th out of 116 for average Teachers salaries on Long Island (with #1 being the HIGHEST average salary).
